It was the best of times (brat summer), it was the worst of times (the fall of democracy). So goes the phrase that launched a thousand memes in the short-lived time of bliss between the release of Brat (Atlantic Records) and the Trump-Biden debate. The rival online trend of the summer is that of the rat – or rodent – boy, which proved as mineable a source of inspiration until Vice President Kamala Harris updated her cover photo to ‘kamala hq’ on a Brat-green background – and, well, sorry rats, but we have a winner.
